Wise and a Clever Girl

In a village there was a father who was so proud of her daughter because she was very wise and clever. He could not stop talking to people about how much wise and clever her daughter was, he talked about her daughter whether he was in the city or in the village and so one day when he was talking about her wise and clever daughter with her neighbour, the king somehow heard him.

The King on the next day ordered his men to go to the house of the clever and wise girl’s father and tell him to come instantly to his palace. The father came to the palace just as he was told to. The king asked him that I heard that your daughter is very clever and wise. The father without any hesitation agreed with his question.
The king then told him that if her daughter was so clever and wise, I would give you twelve eggs, say her to hatch chickens out of them and if she succeeds in it the king will give her a bag full of gold coins and if she does not you will be beaten and you will never forget. The king gave him the dozen eggs and the father returned home worried and told her daughter what the king had told him.

Her daughter after seeing the eggs told his father that they were boiled eggs. The father now got more worried because he was thinking that he will be beaten tomorrow.  But his daughter comforted him and by saying him that he should go to sleep and will not be beaten tomorrow.

The next morning her daughter gave him boiled beans and said him to go on the field to where the king  goes through and when he sees the king, he should start throwing beans on the field and say that come sun and rain, heaven grant that these boiled beans may yield me a good crop.

The father did exactly as he was told and by hearing him the king came to him and not recognised him, asked him how could the boiled beans grow and yield a crop. The father replied that anything the king says is possible just as the twelve boiled eggs could hatch into chickens. The king saw him closely and recognised him, and then he told him to come to his palace with the boiled eggs.

The father went to the palace with the eggs and the king gave him the bag of gold coins but also said him that if your daughter is so clever and wise give her this handful of flax and say her to make me a full set of sails for a large ship. If she does succeed she should be given half the empire of the king and if she does not her father should be beaten as a vain boaster. The father went to his home and told her daughter what the king had told him. Her daughter told him to sleep peacefully and he won’t be beaten.
